Accessibility
Last updated: 30 October 2026. We want everyone to be able to use this site, including the cutting plan, the spec guide and the weave library. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we've done
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link.
- Headings follow a logical order, and the main menu is a labelled navigation region with a menu button that announces whether it's open.
- The cutting plan's result is a live region, so a screen reader announces the yardage when it changes. Every input has a label, and the cut list is a real table with headed columns.
- The spec guide's example sheet is a set of buttons that can be reached and pressed from the keyboard; each explanation is also plain text on the page.
- Text and background colours meet AA contrast ratios, and nothing is conveyed by colour alone: seams and warnings are written out.
- Pages reflow at 400% zoom and on screens as narrow as 320 pixels without sideways scrolling, except the cutting-plan drawing, which scrolls sideways inside its box.
- Photographs are decorative and carry no information that isn't in the text; each has a short description.
What we know isn't perfect
- The cutting-plan drawing is a picture of the layout. The same information is in the table beneath it (each piece, its size and where a seam falls), but the picture itself isn't described piece by piece.
- The weave library's swatch is a canvas drawing. Its name, description and wear notes are text, but the woven texture itself can only be seen.
- The FAQ pages use native disclosure widgets; in some older browsers they don't announce their open state.
